It is safe to say that COVID-19 has everyone amping up their cleaning habits, especially those habits at home. Despite the extra precautions, there are certain spots that are easily forgotten. Over time, these areas build up dust, dirt, and germs.  As Airbnb cleaners, it is extremely important to make sure every area, including the hard-to-reach places, are cleaned for the next renters.

Clean These Forgotten Areas

At TurnoverBnB, we’ve gathered a list of the most forgotten areas for cleaners to cover:

  1. 1. Ceiling Fans

Ceiling fans collect large amounts of dust, and since you cannot see it, it usually means you will forget to clean them. Use a ladder or chair to reach their height,  take a swiffer or rag to collect the dust, and spray with cleaner to disinfect. By cleaning ceiling fans they will function properly.

  1. 2. Throw/Decorative Pillows

Just because we do not sleep on them does not mean they should not be cleaned! Throw pillows collect dust, germs, and dead skin more than pillows on a bed. By using an alternative vacuum head, you can collect all of those germs and skin cells. You can also choose removable pillow covers and throw them in the wash!

  1. 3. Baseboards

It is likely that baseboards are in many living spaces, but they are often overlooked as they typically blend in with the walls. Since they are low to the ground, they collect all kinds of dust and dirt. Take a sponge to scrub away the dirt and wipe with a clean rag. It will make all the difference!

  1. 4. Knobs, Handles, light switches

You would think that with the amount of touching of knobs, handles, and switches, they would be one of the very first places to clean. With how many there usually are in a home and their size, they are often forgotten. A quick wipe with disinfectant will do the job!

  1. 5. Curtains

Once they are hung up, we do not usually do much more. Curtains collect dust and dirt along the floor, so everyone once in a while they will need some cleaning. Throw them in the wash if possible, or get them dry cleaned periodically.

Can’t Hurt To Double Check

The typical routine does not always mean it is truly clean. Airbnb cleaners have important jobs to keep every renter safe in a practically new living space. For a more in-depth checklist, Taskuro has great cleaning checklists. Despite the basics, it is easy to stick to the same cleaning routine for most rentals, but by double-checking the space you can make sure those unseen places have not been forgotten!  A clean Airbnb not only brings in more renters, but also builds a stronger reputation as a cleaner.
